Saturday, August 28, 2010 Disappointing home draw...again.
Another home game. Another draw. Another performance that just wasn't good enough. It's hard to fault any of the players for their effort, as every one worked hard and played with energy. Ultimately, this game provided a good comparison between a Real Salt Lake squad that looks to be a genuine MLS contender and a TFC squad that is still a little short on talent. Toronto generated chances and worked very hard, but never really threatened to score. And again and again the touch of the majority of the TFC players was off just enough prevent the team from finding a breakthrough goal. While the starting eleven played a solid but unspectacular game in earning a draw against one of the best teams in the league, the substitutes that came on in the second half both delivered subpar performances that had to disappoint Preki.

Saturday, August 21, 2010 No De Guzman and then no Mista ... there was no chance.
Toronto FC could not stack up against 3 DPs from New York and go down big time 4-1. It was possibly the worst defeat at BMO Field and you could see the difference in skill and organization betwen the two sides. Apparently this is what $15 millions dollars gets you. Toronto were in it for the first half and unlucky for the most part, but in the second half the Reds could not stack up and the clinical professionalism that Henry, Marquez and Angel offers was the difference. TFC need to pull it together and fast if they are to stay positive on the road this week in Panama and next week again at home. Is there signings on the way, or are we flying flags in the south end for the assistant coach? This lose is an ominous sign that certain players need to step up or they will be first to go when the season goes.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 Top of the table to you!!
That's right! Toronto FC sit atop of Group A in the CONCACAF Champion's League group stage with what some (but not us) might call a shock 2-1 victory over Mexican juggernaut Cruz Azul. It was Toronto's from the opening bell as Azul came out cold and TFC made them pay. Perhaps some of TFC's most criticized players stood up and were counted on as the Eastern Block of Usanov and Hrscanovics were instrumental in both goals - which came from Saric and Mista! Money well spent - hats off to MLSE! Now we just have to balance this out with league play as NYRB are coming to town Saturday and TFC needs all points to keep their heads afloat in MLS.

Saturday, August 7, 2010 Confidence. Momentum. No end of game collapses!
It feels good to be a TFC supporter this weekend. After a slow start but taking a good lead and finishing the game 2-1, Toronto snatch three crucial points to stay in the mix for the MLS postseason. It was a big win because with two games against NYRB, and now a part of the CONCACAF Group Stage, TFC needed to get this win in the bag to make sure they aren't back on their heels going into the toughest stretch of games in the club's short history. Stephe and Spark are joined by Ben Knight of onwardsoccer.com who has returned to his site after taking a short hiatus. Lots to discuss over the quick 24 minute pod from the game in hand and the ones on the horizon.
Friday, August 6, 2010 Inside the MLS: Ante Jazic Born in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Ante Jazic is a defender who plays for Chivas USA. Jaziæ started his soccer career as a youth player for Scotia Soccer Club. At the senior level, he played for one the nation's strongest amateur teams, Halifax King of Donair, as well as a year with Dalhousie University in which he was named All-Canadian CIAU. Jazic began his professional career by joining NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac in 1997 after a successful try-out with the Croation club. After two years with Dragovoljac, he joined Croatian First League club Hajduk Split for the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons. He then played four seasons with Rapid Vienna in Austria and then two seasons with FC Kuban Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League. On June 27th, 2006, he signed a contract with Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. On January 15th, 2009, he was traded to his current club, Chivas USA. At the international level, he has been capped 24 times by Canada
In this interview, Ante and Red Nation discuss Chivas USA’s current campaign, new Chivas Head Coach Martin Vasquez, his former head coach and current TFC head coach Preki, his former teammate Maicon Santos, his experiences playing in Europe, the Men’s Canadian National Team and his upcoming match against Toronto FC at BMO Field.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010 Inside the MLS: Ryan Smith Born in London, England, Ryan Smith is an attacking midfielder who plays for the Kansas City Wizards. A key member of the Wizards attack, Smith is one of the most exciting young players plying his trade in Major League Soccer. As one of the top prospects in Arsenal’s youth system, he became one of youngest players ever to represent the Arsenal first team in a 2003 Carling Cup match against Rotherham United. After leaving the Gunners in 2006, Smith played several more seasons in England before making the jump to the United States where he has quickly established himself as an offensive force for the Kansas City Wizards. At the international level, he has been represented England at the U-20 level.
In this interview, Ryan and Red Nation discuss his current MLS campaign with Kansas City, the Wizards recent win against Manchester United, his time with Arsenal in the English Premier League, his thoughts on how Major League Soccer compares to the football leagues in England and his upcoming match against Toronto FC.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010 Will one goal be enough?
Toronto FC earn the victory over C.D. Motagua in CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round action, but the 1-0 scoreline may not hold up in the return fixture. Despite this, the lads are home and in good spirits as they bore witness to 90 minutes of entertaining football, a rare occurrence at BMO Field these days. Far from a sell-out, where was everybody? All supporters sections were in full effect like never before and now the question is does Preki NOW see the value in playing this tournament? With a game on Saturday and the second game next Tuesday, 1-0 might not be ideal but it was a solid win against a good team and should bolster their confidence.
Saturday, July 24, 2010 Welcome to Toronto FC's groundhog day.
Yes that is correct, a draw at home, 1-1 to FC Dallas, and conceding yet another goal from a set piece. Not only is it groundhog day, it's groundhog day 2009 as Dallas gets their draw in the final third of the game as after Toronto put forth an initial strong performance, coasted down the stretch and paid for it. This episode is not pretty because these results are beginning to become a broken record and where to point to find any kind of remedy to this current run of form that has looked anything but inspired. Maicon Santos was the one bright light as his goal made us stand up and cheer but after that it felt like the tank was empty and the Reds had nothing left. What will happen Tuesday when they take on Motagua in the Champion's League? Or better still next Saturday against Kansas City? It's a tougher second half to the season and Toronto better start finding more than one goal because they can't count on draws to get them into the playoffs.
Friday, July 23, 2010 Inside the MLS: Edson Edward Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Edson Edward is a central defender who plays for FC Dallas. He was selected by FC Dallas in the 2010 Major League Soccer (MLS) supplemental draft and won a spot on the team at training camp. Prior to joining Dallas of the MLS Edward enjoyed an accolade-filled amateur and collegiate soccer career that has taken him to various spots in North America. After graduating the Ottawa Fury's Youth program, Edward began his collegiate duties at the NAIA's Graceland University. In his four years at Graceland he never endured a losing season - helping the Jackets to an overall 58-16-8 record while scoring 15 goals and adding 13 assists. In 2006 Edward was part of Graceland's NAIA National Championship-winning squad, while in 2007 he helped the team become Region V and Conference Champions. Edward has also twice been named to the the NAIA's Heart of America Athletic All-Conference team (2007, 2008).
In this interview, Edson and Red Nation discuss his current MLS rookie campaign, making the jump from college soccer to the professional level, his ongoing development as a young defender and his thoughts on the possibility of Major League Soccer in Ottawa.
Saturday, July 10, 2010 It's a beautiful day!! Not a cloud in the sky and TFC wins!
A determined 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids. First half wasn't anything to write home about but once again second half substitutions from Preki change it up enough to alter the face of the game and one goal was enough by the one and only Ibby Ibrahim. It's the icing on the cake for a very positive week for TFC, who signed Mista, Maicon and get three points at home. We're now feeling good heading into Philly next Saturday and should be in a good spot coming back to BMO against Dallas July 24.
Wednesday, July 8, 2010 Inside the MLS: Adrian Cann In this interview, Adrian and Red Nation discuss Toronto's current campaign, the TFC back line, Toronto's newest signing in Mista, his experiences playing in Europe with Danish side Esbjerg and his upcoming match against the Colorado Rapids at BMO Field.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Adrian Cann is a central defender who plays for Toronto FC. He was drafted by the Colorado Rapids with the 16th overall pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft and is one of only two players to have played for Toronto FC, the Montreal Impact and the Vancouver Whitecaps. In 2008 he signed on with Danish football side Esbjerg and two years later returned to North America to play for his hometown club - Toronto FC. Currently enjoying a standout campaign for the Reds, Cann has quickly established himself as one of the key players on a TFC club that looks destined to make the MLS playoffs for the first time. At the international level, he has been capped 8 times by Canada.
Friday, July 2, 2010 Canada Day! Fireworks!! On the pitch!!!
Wow bench clearing brawl and De Guzman gets the red but the Reds fight back for a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dynamo. Is the glass half empty or full? Yes, still undefeated at home, fought back for the point, Dan Gargan (RELEASED!!!) scores. But the truth is three opponents at home that were more than beatable and it's six points dropped. One goal in three games and no signs of where they're going to come from in the future. It's going to be a doozy July 10th against Colorado and let's hope we don't see a repeat of the Galaxy game with no De Guzman or Sanyang.
Saturday, June 27, 2010 Well that was something.
After an EXCRUCIATING 0-0 draw with the LA Galaxy that only got entertaining when the rain came down, there is little to discuss and what we do touch on, well, it ain't pretty! Just when you though the TFC long ball was long-dead ... IT'S ALIVE. And just when you thought 5 hours of rain would suffice for the grass ... THE SPRINKLERS COME ON AT THE HALF. What a night. If only these so-called trialists pan out, it could be our only hope for some sort of consistency in what was a very meek performance. Let's pray for a 180 by Thursday against Houston for Canada Day.
Saturday, June 5, 2010 HOLY TOLEDO!
Baldomir Toledo that is - could he be the worst referee in MLS? Toronto FC grind out a slow and painful 0-0 draw that would be an understatement to say that Referee Toledo directly had his hand in the outcome of the course of play. A straight red to Nick Garcia in the first third of the game set it off and what could have been another break out game for the Reds turned into a lethargic effort down the stretch with all the points on the line. Still, there are still positives to be had, but it is good to know Preki is not satisfied with the effort and is keeping the lads on their toes. Many encouraging signs for TFC supporters, at least on the field so far this season.
Thursday, June 3, 2010 Inside the MLS: Teal Bunbury
In this interview, Teal and Red Nation discuss his rookie MLS season, the Wizards current winless streak, his transition from the college game to the professional level and his upcoming first match against Toronto FC at BMO Field.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Teal Bunbury is a rookie forward with the Kansas City Wizards. He was drafted by the Wizards with the fourth overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and recently scored his first goal as a professional in a U.S. Open Cup match against the Colorado Rapids. Following a distinguished college soccer career at the University of Akron, Teal was named the winner of the prestigious 2009 Hermann Trophy, the annual award given to the top male player in NCAA Division I soccer. At the international level, he has represented Canada at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
Thursday, June 3, 2010 It was already official, but now it's OFFICIAL
Toronto FC are Nutrilite Champions and hoist the Voyageurs Cup after drawing the Vancouver Whitecaps 0-0 at BMO Field. It was not quite the drama was saw in 2009, but at least the win was not under controversy and outright. Now if the Reds can only advance past Motagua and into the group stage it will all be worth it. Spark and Stephe discuss the massive differences between 2009 and 2010, not just in results but confidence in the side and how they are performing. Despite what looks to be a lesser side on paper, this TFC team is making a statement early on in the season.
Saturday, May 22, 2010 Toronto FC enact revenge of sorts against the New England Revolution by taking them out 1-0 at home Saturday afternoon.
After being completely wiped 4-1 at Foxborough, it was on the backs of a side missing Dwayne De Rosario, Julian De Guzman and Nana Attakora to get it done and keep their undefeated home form in tact. Unlikely sources stepped up in Garcia, Hscanovics and Sanyang, who all were steady through the afternoon and key in keeping the game in TFC's hands. The Reds continue their good home form and now just need to keep on building on these results as the Nutrilite Cup finale is approaching and could be decided here at home in a week and a half.
Thursday, May 13, 2010 Inside the MLS: Todd Dunivant Todd Dunivant is a veteran fullback with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He was drafted by San Jose with the sixth overall pick in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft and won an MLS Cup with the Earthquakes during his rookie season. In addition to San Jose and Los Angeles, he also has played for Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls. He won the MLS Cup for a second time and his first U.S. Open Cup with the Galaxy in 2005. At the international level, he has been capped twice by the U.S. Men's National Team.
In this interview, Todd and Red Nation discuss the Galaxy’s red hot start to the 2010 season, playing with Landon Donovan, Edson Buddle and David Beckham, playing under John Carver during his time with Toronto FC and the Galaxy's upcoming match against TFC.
Saturday, May 8, 2010 Revenge at home is so sweet.
After Brian McBride came in to BMO last year and humbled TFC 2-0, Toronto and CHAD BARRETT return the favour in style hammering the Eastern Conference favourites Chicago Fire 4-1. The weather was a key factor but hats off to Toronto who were able to look good at both sides of the pitch, and hats off to Chad Barrett who nets the brace!! We're still thawing out after this one but we'll take these kind wins any day of the week if it means such weather ... well, let's hope we see these kind of performances when it gets warmer. This should be a great confidence boost for the lads going on the road where they've been woeful, so it could start to turn around this Wednesday in Montreal!
Friday, May 7, 2010 Inside the MLS: Justin Mapp In this interview, Justin and Red Nation discuss his experiences playing with Chicago, the many changes that the Fire went through in the offseason, the 2010 MLS campaign and Chicago's upcoming match against Toronto FC.
Justin Mapp is a playmaking midfielder with the Chicago Fire. He was drafted by D.C. United with the fourth overall pick in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, but played only 28 minutes for DC in his first year as a professional. The Chicago Fire acquired Mapp before the 2003 season and he has been an important player for the squad since then, helping them to the 2003 U.S. Open Cup. At the international level, he has been capped 5 times by the U.S. Men's National Team.
Friday, April 30, 2010 Inside the MLS: Will Johnson Canadian midfielder Will Johnson is a member of the 2009 MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake team. After stints playing in the Netherlands and with the Chicago Fire, Johnson joined Real Salt Lake in 2008 and immediately established himself as a key part of the team’s midfield. In 2009, he made his first appearance at an MLS All Star Game, going up against English Premier League side Everton. At the international level, Johnson has been capped 10 times by the Men’s Canadian National Team.
In this interview, Will and Red Nation discuss his current campaign with Real Salt Lake, winning the 2009 MLS Cup, the Men’s Canadian National Team and Real’s upcoming match against Toronto FC.
Thursday, April 29, 2010 It's Derby day!
That's right, the 2010 Nutrilite Cup has kicked off and Toronto FC have kept their undefeated run against the Montreal Impact In-Tact (Heyoooo!) defeating them 2-0 at BMO. Despite ANOTHER goal from De Rosario, and Chad Barrett slotting home his first of the year, it was somewhat of a lacklustre showing, especially considering the Impact were down to 10 men most of the night. Regardless, Tim, Stephe and Spark are all in good spirits and it was a good night at the park and there were tons of young kids going bananas in the stands. Love the mid-week games!!
Monday, April 26, 2010 It's a day of firsts this Sunday for Toronto FC.
For the first time, the Reds defeat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 at BMO Field. Spark and Stephe are back from the field after witnessing what was the first decent game of football for TFC this season. Dwayne De Rosario nets the team's first goal from open play, while O'Brien White becomes the first OTHER than De Ro to put one between the sticks. It felt good to give it to the Sounders after they humiliated TFC in last season's home opener.
Thursday, April 22, 2010 Inside the MLS: Tyrone Marshall Veteran Seattle Sounders defender Tyrone Marshall is a two-time MLS All-Star and a two-time MLS Cup champion. After stints as a key member of the Miami Fusion, Los Angeles Galaxy and Toronto FC, Marshall joined Seattle for their inaugural season and immediately established himself as an important leader on the team’s back line. At the international level, he has been capped 69 times by the Jamaican National Team.
In this interview, Tyrone and Red Nation discuss his experiences playing with Seattle, his transition from Toronto FC to the Sounders, the Jamaican National Team and going up against Canada in CONCACAF competition.
Monday, April 17, 2010 Inside the MLS: Marvell Wynne Colorado Rapids fullback Marvell Wynne is arguably the fastest player in the MLS and a player whose pace and attacking instincts add an exiting element to any match that he is part of. After three seasons as a fan favourite with Toronto FC, Marvell is now a key player on a Rapids team that will be looking to make the playoffs after narrowly missing in 2009.
In this interview, Marvell and Red Nation discuss his recent trade from Toronto to Colorado, how he is fitting in with the Rapids, his years with Toronto FC, the U.S. Men’s National Team and going toe to toe with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Thursday, April 15, 2010 It's the home opener for the
T-F-C.
The Reds take out a 10-man, expansion-side, Philadelphia Union to grab their first three points of the season. BUT ... there are lots of "buts" ... most notably no goals from open play and few signs of this happening. Tim has a few laughs, Spark's stayin' positive, but Stephe is downright disgusted. What are we in store for this season from what we saw tonight? Sit back and relax, this is only the beginning!!
Monday, April 12, 2010 Inside the MLS: Tom Veit,
President of the Philadelphia Union As President of the Philadelphia Union, Tom Veit oversees all business matters relating to the club and stadium and has been a driving force as both the MLS and the expansion franchise work to establish top level professional soccer in the fourth-largest market in the United States and repeat the recent success of the Seattle and Toronto franchises.
In this interview, Tom and Red Nation discuss a number of topics including the recent launch of the newest franchise in the MLS, how the Union prepared for their inaugural season, the philosophy and vision of the organization and the history of soccer in Philadelphia.
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Inside the MLS: Kevin Alston American fullback Kevin Alston is one of the up and coming players in the MLS, as well as a possible key contributor for the U.S. Men’s National Team in the coming years. After a much lauded MLS rookie season with the New England Revolution, Alston is poised to play a key role in the backline for the Revs as they once again find themselves among the contenders in the Eastern Conference.
In this interview, Kevin and Red Nation discuss the current state of the New England Revolution, his college soccer career at Indiana University, the U.S. Men’s National Team, as well as the Revolution’s upcoming match against Toronto FC.
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 Inside the MLS: Carl Robinson
Born in Llandrindod Wells, Wales, Carl Robinson's career as a midfielder has seen him play with a variety of clubs in the United Kingdom, the Wales National Team and was an inaugural member of Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. Following three seasons as a core player and team leader with Toronto FC, Carl was traded to the New York Red Bulls where he is currently preparing for his fourth season in the MLS. On his Official Website, soccer is described as being in Carl's blood.
In this interview, Carl and Red Nation discuss his recent training camp with Red Bulls, his upcoming MLS Season with New York, the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement between the MLS Owners and Player’s Union, as well as some of his thoughts on a variety of topics related to his time with Toronto FC.
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 The 2009 campaign is over for Toronto FC.
After the humiliating loss to NYRB 5-0, the lads took a few days to let the dust settle and gather their thoughts on the game and the season that was. We talk about the match, the reactions from TFC management as well as wrap up the year talking about the players, their contribution and if they'll be back next season. There could be a few more podcasts over the months, but for now we are with the players enjoying the offseason. If there is nothing for a while, we look forward to the 2010 season and we'll be talking to you again in March! Thanks so much for listening and here's to a better season next year - Spark, Stephe, Tim.
Saturday, October 17, 2009 The drive of OH-NINE!
The drive of OH-NINE! TFC are alive for one more week as they defeat Real Salt Lake 1-0. It felt like a carbon copy of last week's game against San Jose, but luckily the four minutes of extra time did not result in a last second goal for the opposition. Brian Edwards lays his claim down as a threat to the starting role as he certainly should have been the M.O.M. by saving three clear goals. The lads wrap today's 'cast off with a mini-tribute to Danny Dichio who had an amazing show of support from the Supporters Sections at kick-off. He was no doubt the one clear highlight of this team for two seasons and his passion and heart will be missed on the pitch. Here's to TFC's 2009 playoff push!!
Saturday, October 10, 2009 Welcome to the RedNation Whingecast!
After drawing the lowly San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 at home is there anything to be positive about? Now we are down to our 180 'most important minutes in club history'. *sigh* Tim sums the match up in one word: gutted. A 93 minute equalizer seems to wrap this season up for TFC nicely. Can't hold a lead, can't lock it down. The lads have a good group therapy session and are at least hoping next weekend the weather will be nice again. That's something to look forward to!
Sunday, September 26, 2009 Welcome to the spin zone!
Is there a silver lining from this game? Toronto FC draw with the Chicago Fire 2-2. Yes we score on the road, ending a 360 minute road goalless street. Yes we get a crucial ONE point to keep faint playoff hopes alive. But three points were within our grasp and literally at the last second almost saw them all disappear. With any good, we saw the bad. De Rosario and even Chad Barrett hang it all out, but it's all for not when you have Nick Garcia defending crosses. Spark tries to keep it positive but Stephe is PISSED. He wanted all three points, I think we can all appreciate that. One thing is for sure, the last three games will be intense, and we have 2 weeks to prepare. See you in 13 days!
Sunday, September 20, 2009 Whaa-whaa-whaaaa.
Well I guess there will be no shortage of drama down the stretch this season! Toronto FC extend their goalless road streak to 360 minutes after a 2-0 loss to the L.A. Galaxy. Hey you know #23? That Beckham guy? He supposedly has a pretty good right foot. Might want to keep an eye on him! The battle of designated players. Julian De Guzman delivers in quality, unfortunately one man cannot do it all. Was there a strategy from Chris Cummins? L.A. is an example of how good coaching has made the difference and balanced out a line-up into a cohesive, consistent unit. Still mathematically in it and we try to stay positive. It's tough but fortunately we had a few beers so that made it easier.
Saturday, September 12, 2009 Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!?!
Well Toronto's hopes still hang by a thread for one more week anyways with a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rapids. Never a dull moment with the TFC. Today we have THREE (count 'em!) guests in our 9X10 office: Squizz and Jamie from Some Canadian Guys Writing About Soccer (canadiansoccerblog.ca) and none other than Ben Knight from Onward! (onwardsoccer.com). Ben, Squizz and Jamie have the goods on how the season will pan out, De Guzman, his impact and how he will link up with De Ro and a dash of fan fav Dichio. These guys saved the day and helped us get out another podcast and it was a good one. Thanks guys!
Saturday, September 5, 2009 Whoa momma. Deja vu. Is it August 22nd or Sept 5? 2009 or 2007?
Toronto FC lose 1-0 to a beatable Colorado Rapids, and look vacant in the process. The only thing missing from this podcast is a tub of ice cream, a bottle of baileys and yankee candles. As TFC's playoff chances hang by a thread, where do we go from here? What games can we pick up TWELVE points in the next six games? It will be tough with a revolving door starting XI to find consistent form. *NOTE* this was a road podcast and the laptop mucked up the audio file at the end. Don't worry you just missed the best TFC joke Sparkie has ever delivered.
Saturday, August 15, 2009 TWO GOALS!! TFC delivers big time!
They are up for a big Eastern Division game at home, and they finally find an insurance goal to defeat DC United 2-0. A young, fresh, line-up is in place that pays off with O'Brian White starting and scoring his first MLS goal. Dwayne De Rosario is a beast per usual and is by far TFC's MVP this season. This was a critical victory as our next three games on the road are against the best in the west (at home anyways) in Chivas USA, Seattle and Colorado. We are happy for one week and given the performance have little to bitch and moan about, so we can only gush for 36 minutes.
Saturday, July 18, 2009 Annnnnnd we're back.
Annnnnnd we're back. It's been so long. Welcome to our now MONTHLY home game/post home game podcast. TFC draws Houston 1-1. Very disappointing considering Houston was missing their top goal scorers Brian Ching and Stuart Holden. The second half was a shell of the first which turned into another schizophrenic 90 minutes for TFC. Will we see more consistency when Ali Gerba arrives? Will competition for positions make everyone more hungry? We will see, as I am about to get my cab to the airport in, no joke, 5 minutes so I gotta wrap this up! TFC!!
Wednesday, June 24, 2009 HEAT WAVE.
TFC is on fi-ya with their third win in a row and second over New York defeating them 2-0 at BMO. Vitti gets his first ever, brushes off his shoulders and gets a chant. Well done. De Rosario is still in form with a beauty off a nice ball from Chad Barrett. With the signing of Ali Gerba, who's going to take a seat? Vitti and Barrett have 2-3 games to show who is going to keep the starting role, but we're hoping there is a spot for both of them on TFC to build a future for this club. For now we are happy with another three points but there is still room for improvement, so let's see what happens over the next few weeks leading up to the transfer window of July 15.
Friday, June 19, 2009 Well dress me up and call me Sally!
It's 24hrs later and we're still on cloud nine. Toronto FC wins MLSE's FIRST trophy by defeating the Montreal Impact 6-1 at Stade Saputo to capture the Voyageurs Cup. Guts, heart and grit is what did it for us, led by none other than the hometown hero Dwayne De Rosario. He was all business for 94 minutes and this was a well-deserved victory for Toronto. Vancouver must have been none to happy though, having been on hand to witness it. Spark and Stephe put out a quick one to comment on this historic night for TFC.
Saturday, June 13, 2009 Rrrrrrrt! Yes! The sound of a skid coming to a halt.
Toronto FC has defeated the hapless New York Red Bulls 2-1 BUT (there is always a but) make it look a lot harder than it should have been. New York was in the game, scored their first road goal this season, and following our usual script could not finish chances to put the game away. At least flags were flying in the stands, a new face made an appearance in the backline and hopefully we're not far from signing some help up front. Gotta stay posi and make the most of this short stretch to get the sure points before the dog days of summer.
Saturday, June 6, 2009 Lordy, Lordy...my, my, my, Toronto FC go down to the LA Galaxy 2-1 at home.
WHAT is going on? Toronto has lost 3 in a row, are all but out of the Voyageurs Cup and haven't even hit the time of year where we lose our internationals. Something needs to be done. Will MLSE do anything about this to improve the team, product and relations with supporters or does the dollar and bottom lines determine all decisions? Like putting in a one-off grass pitch for an exhibition game against Real Madrid. Lots to discuss on recent results and the state of TFC moving towards a tough time in the schedule.
Saturday, May 23, 2009 Amado Guevara - Oh what a lad!
The Reds experience a RE-evolution to defeat New England 3-1 at home. We are smiles for miles as Toronto came back from 1-0 to take out a good team and make a move towards the top of the East. Once again, all goals from the midfield. Why are we hearing about signing a midfielder when all signs point to needing depth up front and in the back? Not to mention the $165,000 thirty second sub-in of Rohan Ricketts. Lots to discuss from the match, including getting Ricketts into the line-up, what's coming up with Houston and the Voyageurs Cup.
Saturday, May 16, 2009 This is our house!...is what the Chicago Fire fans sang.
Toronto FC is downed 2-0 and look listless in the process. Poor passing, poor finishing, poor support through the stadium, it's no wonder TFC lost to a team who looked as though they came for the draw. The inconsistency needs to be addressed and with the European season coming to an end here's hoping players get axed and useful ones come in.
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Tic-Tac-Tabernac, who the F#&$'s the Impact!?
Toronto FC now have six points in the Nutrilite Championship with a 1-0 victory over the Montreal Impact. In all reality it could have been 5-0. Once again, welcome to brutal refereeing in North America with one of the worst calls at BMO this year. Despite this, Toronto FC gets the win, is in great form and in the driver's seat for advancing to the Champions League.
Wednesday, May 6, 2009 It's the Voyageu ... Canada Cu ... The Nutrilite Championship!!
TFC downs Vancouver 1-0 at home on a rainy Wednesday night. Dwayne De Rosario comes ALIVE and plays outstanding, but the Reds once again can only manage one goal. Where is this second goal going to come from? We were one play away from repeating the FC Dallas debacle but Stefan Frei shows why he is the number one 'keeper in Hogtown. Bring on Montreal! The Pepsis ... the Peppers ... les grenouilles! GO REDS!
Saturday, May 2, 2009 The lads are home after a disappointing 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew.
The Trillium Cup will go down to the wire! Such excitement! We're talking bad defence, bad offence and what is going on with De Rosario? A farewell to John Carver and looking forward to the Voyageur Cup this week rounds off the 'cast.
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 MamaMia! TFC WINS.
After a 1-0 victory at home, the first of the season, the lads heap on the praise for the Reds best 90 mins of this season. A 4-3-3? 4-2-1-3? Either way they did it without De Rosario, which is even more surprising. None of us expected this and sometimes being wrong about your team isn't so bad.
Saturday, April 11, 2009 Sit dowwwwwwn for the TFC!
1-1 vs. FC Dallas, the lads are back from the game and point the finger at substitutions for the draw and give the new "guest services" services a big THUMBS DOWN.
Saturday, April 4, 2009 After a 2-0 bloodbath against the Seattle Sounders, the lads return.
Home from a freezing afternoon to dissect what went wrong. Spark drank alot that night and Stephe's core strength greatly improved over the course of this episode..
Thursday, April 2, 2009 The first ever RedNation podcast.
In the lads' "pre" home-opener episode they look at Toronto FC's first two games on the road and what we can expect in their first game at BMO Field in 2009.
