Are they fit, are they not fit? Nobody knows!
It will all be a big surprise come Saturday afternoon when TFC take on Seattle and we see whether or not the likes of Defoe, Bradley et al. are ready enough to suit up and have a go at the Sounders.
With MLS 2014 beginning this past weekend, and TFC on a break (wtf) that was no excuse to shelf the pod for seven more days. I went down to the east side and met up with two of SG114's members who we had recorded an episode with last summer. Mark Ferris and Chris Schuler were good enough to give up a chunk of their afternoon to discuss all things TFC.
Actually, the TFC talk was somewhat superficial, as we ran through a list of housekeeping items such as the renovated BMO Field, the tough schedule to start the season and the pressure on Ryan Nelsen.
What I was more interested in hearing about was has there been any change in supporter culture through the offseason, what was the sentiment coming out of the groups in the south end, and of course some more intel on the man running the show, Tim Leiweke.
As noted in the introduction, from where we are (ESSU) we have a good vantage of the entire stadium and have watched what was once the one thing to be proud of at BMO Field slowly dwindle away, not coincidentally coinciding with any hope of a competitive team. Will 2014 actually be different?
Lots to discuss and it's only a week away before the regular schedule of East Side Stand Up is back.
