A perfect 12 is what Toronto did at home over the last 4 games. While New England seemed ready for Toronto early, a pair of Giovinco goals seemed to suck the life out of them and Toronto ran away with a 4-1 victory.
The Opening 45
For about 20 minutes the match seemed even. Neither team was really getting anything going and possession was split and then Giovinco scored a beauty of a goal, with a little help from Jay Chapman and the returning Bradley.
Minutes later, Mark Bloom was able to get the ball to Giovinco just outside New England's box and New England for some reason provided him with plenty of room. Giovinco made them pay royally with an amazing blast from the corner of the box into the back corner of the net.
The Second Half
New England came into the second-half aiming to make up for their first-half errors. They were able to gain more control and had their chances but they just couldn't match Toronto.
Once Tosaint Rickets (who just wasn't able to finish) was subbed out for Jozy Altidore the game seemed done. Jonathan Osorio was able to draw a foul from Darrius Barnes in the box, giving Toronto a penalty kick and Giovinco a hat-trick.
Teal Bunbury, of all people, prevented Alex Bono from having his 3rd straight clean sheet when he broke free of Josh Williams to score a late goal. But the great game didn't end with that low point as the closer as Altidore took advantage of a seemingly sleeping New England to score in the last minute of extra time.
Man of the Match
Sebastian Giovinco
With his second hat-trick in 4 games, Giovinco rose to the top of the goal-scoring ranks and proved that he's more than back from that 8-game drought. He's ready to claim the MVP award for the second straight season.
