In a statement of a game, Toronto FC smashed the Philadelphia Union in Philadelphia. It was Toronto's first road win since May and they did so in a very home game like fashion, proving that Toronto are not just in the playoff race but truly in Eastern Conference title and the Supporters' Shield races as well.
Return to Posiville: Population still 2.
The Opening 45
While the half seemed evenly matched, Toronto was firing on all cylinders in the first half. It took less than 20 minute for Sebastian Giovinco to draw blood with a nice post to post goal. It seemed like he'd add another a minute later but he went just wide. Ken Tribbett evened it up when he headed in a free kick by Tranquillo Barnetta but Drew Moor put Toronto back ahead with a goal similar to Tribbert's (with Michael Bradley replacing Barnetta).
Jozy Altidore made it 3-1 after fighting off both Tribbett and Alejandro Bedoya to get the shot off. The goal was Altidore's 4th in 5 games.
The Second Half
Unlike the first, the second half saw minimal Toronto offense as Toronto seemed to take a breath. Strong defensive play and goaltending prevented Philadelphia from getting back into the game.
Man of the Match
Drew Moor
In a game where Toronto seemed all offense, it's key to remember that Philadelphia was kept cold by the D in the second half. Drew Moor was a bi part of that defense and also scored the game winner so it's only fitting that's he's the man of the match.
