The quality of League 1 is impressive and those who are well versed in the Canadian soccer landscape will see many familiar faces, from the stands, onto the sidelines to the players on the pitch.
Sigma FC has emerged as one of Canada's elite centres for player development and is at the point where NCAA and professional clubs both in North America and Europe are monitoring their talent throughout the years.
Vaughan Azzuri brought an element of experience as they had players with European, MLS and CIS backgrounds, and that showed as they went down early 1-0 on an Emory Welshman goal, but never looked like they faultered and in the second half simply executed their gameplan and scored two goals for the win.
In this interview, RedNation has the opportunity to speak with six people associated or surrounding League 1 Ontario: Dino Rossi, Chairman of the league; Costa Smyrniotis, Director of Sigma FC; Aaron Neilsen, player analysis expert and statistician; Ben Rycroft, Manager of Communications for the Ontario Soccer Association; Kamal Hylton, host of the soccer podcast The Gaffer and Hooligan; and Julian Uccello, former AC Milan youth product and forward for the Woodbridge Strikers.
