With many of the clubs in England not playing due to the FA Cup, all eyes were on the Canadian contingent in Germany this weekend, with many Canadian Internationals involved in promotion and relegation battles.
In Germany
In Bundesliga action, Marcel de Jong played all 90 minutes in a tight 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, as Augsburg continue to find themselves in the bottom three and in danger of relegation. While Olivier Occean and Eintracht Frankfurt also lost on Saturday, falling 3-0 to defending Champions Dortmund, the Die Adler continue to sit comfortably in fourth place in the table. At the 2. Bundesliga level, Randy Edwini-Bonsu and Eintracht Braunschweig continue to sit atop the table, as they dealt a blow to Julian de Guzman and his side, Jahn Regensburg, who are in a fierce relegation battle while sitting in 18th place.
In Netherlands
PSV maintained their lead atop the Eredivisie with a 2-1 comeback victory at home over Utrecht and currently sit three points up on Ajax, who won 2-0 against RKC Waalwijk on Sunday. While it was a successful weekend for the club, Atiba Hutchinson got the start at right back and earned two yellow cards, as the classy Canadian was sent off in the 70th minute.
