Toronto FC continues to be undefeated at home this season with some sweet revenge on New England Revolution (for giving Toronto their only loss since April).
Drew Moor put Toronto on the board early, poking a chance by Tsubasa Endoh into the net after Armando Cooper battled to get the ball into the box. Jozy Altidore nearly made it 2-0 before the 15-minute mark, but he was unable to gain control of a rebound.
Altidore's lack of luck continued as he was fouled by Antonio Delamea Mlinar in the box but was denied a penalty.
In the second half, a free-kick by Sebastian Giovinco was prevented from going in by the head of Lee Nguyen, who deserves “Save of the Year” considerations for it.
At the other end of the pitch, Alex Bono made a great stop on a header from Teal Bunbury.
Giovinco padded Toronto’s lead in extra time, sneaking a shot around Benjamin Angoua.
With that, Toronto kept their unbeaten home run alive and New England continues to search for their first road win of the season.
Man of the Match
Armando Cooper
Armando Cooper is back! After seemingly disappearing from Toronto, Cooper reminded everyone he’s still here and played a massive role in the game-winning goal.
Canucks in Action
Jonathan Osorio (entered in the 68th minute for Cooper)
Ashtone Morgan (entered in the 69th minute for Chris Mavinga)
Jay Chapman (entered in the 78th minute for Endoh)
