Toronto FC continued their domineering ways against Ottawa Fury in leg two of the Canadian Championship Semi-Finals. Despite a strong effort from the USL side, Toronto showed that they just might be the closest to a pure alpha team in Canadian soccer history.
After a slow 40 minute start, that at times seemed to drag with the exception of the subbing off of Tosaint Ricketts for Steven Beitashour due to injury, an own goal from Eddie Edwards closed the goal-differential and put Toronto ahead. A moment later, a header by Tsubasa Endoh sealed the lead for Toronto going into the half.
Entering the second half, Toronto fans were excited and shocked to see the return of Sebastian Giovinco. From this moment on Toronto gave Ottawa little room to contend.
Toronto came at Ottawa hard for 25 minutes before sub Marco Delgado truly put the game out of reach for Ottawa. But that goal wasn't the end of Toronto's assault as Giovinco scored an easy goal late.
Toronto head to their second straight Canadian Championship final and will play the Montreal Impact in June for the coveted Voyageurs Cup.
Man of the Match
Tsubasa Endoh
A case was made tonight for Endoh, who has been largely absent from Toronto FC this season. Not only did he score an important header but he was vital to Edwards own goal and played a role in several Toronto chances.
