First Thoughts
Ottawa Fury FC will host their expansion brothers Indy Eleven this Sunday in their last home game of the season. Fury have beaten Eleven twice this year on the road and will be looking for a similar result at home. Following a tense week in Ottawa, Fury FC will have a ceremony following the events on Wednesday, and players will all wear black armbands in remembrance of Cpl Nathan Cirillo.
Both teams are well out of the playoff picture now however Ottawa will be looking to sweep Indy with a 3rd straight win against their fellow expansion club. Although Eleven have been known for their very large home support, they have recorded just one home win all season, leaving them 3 points behind Ottawa in the combined standings.
Keep Thinking
Marc Dos Santos has revealed that Oliver could feature this weekend following a serious injury to his mouth in New York two week ago. The Fury coach also suggested he may try a starting line up with both Vini Dantas and Tommy Heinemann, while still sticking with the teams 4-3-3 system. Dos Santos has mentioned several times how disappointed he is in the fact that the team has missed the playoffs this year, but he is confident in the way the club is moving forward both on and off the pitch.
Richie Ryan can be expected to start in the midfield following his two year contract extension earlier this week, with Donatelli and Ubiparipovic likely to start alongside the Irishman. Omar Jarun could get the start in defence once again, leaving Drew Beckie with a spot on the bench, while Trafford will join the Palestinian international in the centre back position. Ryan Richter and O’Brian Woodbine will likely start on either side of the centre backs, providing space and skill down the wings.
In The End
It has been an emotional week for the residents of Ottawa, however with the Senators, RedBlacks and Fury FC all having home games this weekend, there is ample opportunity for the community to come together through sport. Ottawa Fury will be looking to impress the fans in their last home game of the year as they chase seventh spot. Marc Dos Santos is expected to play a very attacking lineup, having been able to put several goals past Indy already this season. Ottawa Fury will finish their season next week in Fort Lauderdale where they face the Strikers on Nov 1st.
Prediction:
Ottawa Fury FC 4-1 Indy Eleven
