Ottawa Fury take on the 2014 NASL Champions San Antonio this Saturday evening as they look to bounce back from two draws and a loss in their last three matches. Fury still sit a top the Fall Season standings and third in the combined stands, however they will need a strong performance on the road to ensure they stay on course to compete in the NASL Championship
San Antonio has struggled this season, sitting 11th in the combined standings and 8th in the Fall Season standings. Fury will be looking to take advantage of the Scorpions recent form and get back to their winnings ways with a big three points on the road. The squad has had a week to recover from playing two matches in four days against some of the NASL’s toughest competition.
Keep Thinking
Julian De Guzman will miss the road trip, as he is on duty with the Canadian Men’s National Team as they compete in World Cup qualifiers. There aren’t too many injury worries for Ottawa as they head into this match, which is a nice change for the squad. Mauro Eustaquio is expected to start in the midfield alongside Richie Ryan and Ubiparipovic, while the back four will likely remain unchanged.
Tom Heinemann will be favourite to start up front as the American forward has made the striker position his. With both Paulo Jr and Oliver scoring last week against Tampa Bay, it would be safe to assume that the Brazilian duo will be favourites to start on the wings. Ugur Albayrak picked up and injury early in the match vs the Rowdies and will miss the trip to Texas.
In The End
It seems nearly every match for Fury is big, and this road trip is no different. Dos Santos will have hoped that the club would have earned more than two points from their last three games at home, so bringing home three this weekend will be a must. With the season into its final third, Fury are certainly one of the favourites to make the NASL Championship, meaning expectations are high for a club that was able to turn things around and find their scoring touch. The match vs San Antonio kicks off at 8:30pm ET.
Prediction:
Ottawa Fury 1-0 San Antonio
