Ottawa Fury will host Indy Eleven this Saturday afternoon following a bye-week for the Canadian club. Both Ottawa and Indy were expansion clubs in 2014 and had some exciting matches against each other last year, including each winning away from home. This season both clubs will have a lot more to prove, and both squads seem to have improved during the off season, at least on paper.
Just one point separates the two clubs after six matches, and a win for either club would take them off the bottom of the table and push them towards the middle. Although results haven’t gone Fury’s way this season, Dos Santos seems confident of his squad heading into this match, and spirits at TD Place seem high.
Keep Thinking
Fury captain Richie Ryan returned to full training this week and could feature this weekend, although he will likely start the match on the bench. Tom Heinemann returns fully fit after the bye-week; however Wiedeman did pick up a knock in training and remains doubtful to play against Eleven.
Brazilian winger Paulo Jr will likely return to the starting XI this weekend after having a successful run last weekend with Ottawa Fury’s academy in the PLSQ. Drew Beckie impressed against Tampa Bay and has certainly earned a look for this weekend, however it remains to be seen if Dos Santos will put him in the central midfield position again.
In The End
It will be an important match for but clubs and Fury will certainly need to take the home pitch advantage if they are going to turn their fortunes and put away their scoring chances. Dos Santos has said he is confident of a Fury win and feels that come 6pm on Saturday Ottawa will be sitting in the middle of the table.
Optimism seems high at TD Place despite the club sitting at the bottom of the table, and it’s this mentality that Fury will need to thrive off of to get a win this weekend. Following the match vs Indy Eleven, Ottawa will host rivals FC Edmonton on Friday May 29th in their final home game of the Spring Season.
Prediction
Ottawa Fury 2-1 Indy Eleven
