With the Canadian Women’s National Team falling 2-1 to England on Saturday and exiting the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the quarterfinal stage, it is not surprising that both the defeat and Canada’s performance in the tournament as a whole caused plenty of reaction on social media. Reaction to the loss ran the gamut from genuine appreciation to heartfelt disappointment to pragmatic criticism, as pundits, fans and supporters weighed in with their reaction to loss, the team’s performance, the future of the team and the overall job delivered by Head Coach John Herdman.
Despite the heartbreak, this is still an incredible group of dedicated players and I can't wait to support them in their next game. #CanWNT — Sam Gregory (@GregorydSam) June 28, 2015

The most disappointing part isn't THAT it is over. It's how. The win was there to be had. The IF's are what frustrates. — Gareth Wheeler (@WheelerTSN) June 28, 2015
