Hometown hero Dwayne De Rosario has returned to Toronto FC on a one-year deal with a conditional second year option. RedNation Online has learned that De Rosario has agreed to a new deal after the club and the player spent the last few weeks negotiating over a second-year option. De Rosario’s camp was insistent on a second-year option, conditional or otherwise. The club reached an agreement with De Rosario with a conditional second-year option that could see the Canadian international return in 2015. De Rosario is believed to be taking a cap hit of around $150,000. He returns to Toronto FC after being selected third overall in the second stage of the 2014 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft. The league rules dictated the club offer the player a contract within seven days of the draft in order to retain the player’s rights. De Rosario is a native of Toronto, and, at 35 years old, is looking to round off an illustrious career back at the club he once signed for in 2009. He departed on April Fools day of 2011. Toronto FC offered De Rosario an initial, one-year only contract. The Montreal Impact were also interested in offering De Rosario a contract, as well as the Chicago Fire. De Rosario took a discounted offer from Toronto to return home. The deal is expected to be announced by the club next week.
