After what can only be described as a much needed hiatus, East Side Stand Up (ESSU) is back for the 2013 season. The last episode posted was leading into Canada’s flame-out in Honduras and with Toronto FC done and dusted pretty much ... well, let’s be honest with one another - in May - we didn’t see too much point in letting the TFC rag-fest continue. In like a lion, out like a slaughtered lamb should be the motto from 2012.
If you’re listening to the pod by this point you might have heard that we have hit the century mark. While that might not be a huge feat for most podcasts, considering ESSU was only recorded post-match after home games, getting to this point has been a few years in the making. 2012 though saw a huge jump in quantity as the format change in trying to cover every game, home and away, totaled approximately forty episodes last season.

So what is new for this year? As has been the case since 2009, we’ve always tried to improve the quality and content, and for 2013 we took a listener suggestion and decided to add in a few more episodes. If all goes according to plan, the start of each month will have the supplement podcast ESSU 30/30, which will look back on the last month, and to the month ahead. With the regular episodes mostly focusing on the game at hand, having some episodes covering the broader topics of TFC throughout the season seems like a worthwhile endeavor.
As always, we want to express huge appreciation for all feedback, positive and negative. We want to encourage discussion and discourse, and do not believe our voice is the only one, so please feel free to reach out and share your thoughts on TFC!
Thanks again and here’s to 2013!
