GK – Lars Hirschfeld, Vålerenga – Simply put, one of the best keepers that I have ever worked with.
RB – Paul Stalteri, All-time leader in appearances for the Canadian Men’s National Team – I only played with him twice, but he is a true leader. When you are going into battle, he is kind of guy that you want to go into battle with.
CB – Kevin McKenna, FC Köln – I think that, like Paul Stalteri, he is a true leader. On his day, there aren’t many centrebacks better than him.
CB – Andre Hainault, Houston Dynamo – I think there is more to come from him in his career and he is very solid centre half.
LB – Ante Jazic, Chivas USA – He is a very good professional and everybody saw that in the most recent World Cup qualifying cycle.
M – Dwayne De Rosario, D.C. United –His CV just speaks for itself. He has won everything that he can in the MLS and he is so exciting with the ball at his feet.
M – Josh Simpson, BSC Young Boys –I think he is the new breed of winger. He is big, strong and quick and very direct.
M - Julian de Guzman, FC Dallas – Unfortunately, I don’t think the MLS ever saw the best of him. But when you work with him day in, day out and train with him, it becomes obvious that he is a very talented player.
M - Atiba Hutchinson, PSV– Atiba is probably one of the most talented players ever to play for Canada. He is an excellent box to box player.
F – Danny Koevermans, Toronto FC – No offense to any other centre forwards, but I do think that Canada needs a player in his mold. And when we produce that type of centre forward, I think that will be the difference between going to a World Cup and not going.
