“On the first day of Christmas, Bell + Rogers gave to me…”
A Roof Over BMO Field
We kick off our 12 days of Christmas at Toronto FC with the grandest wish of all – a brand, spanking new roof over the 20,000-seat stadium we call home, BMO Field.
Taking into consideration the variable weather, intense winds from the Lake just south of the field, and the supporters’ songs, a roof would both winterize BMO Field, create a more hostile environment for opponents and help make Toronto FC fans the loudest supporters in the league.
It is a known fact that all stadiums are made even better when there is a roof overhead. Beyond the few isolated instances of roof collapse, stadiums with roofs not only look more intimidating…they are scientifically more intimidating. An enemy player does not need to look far to avoid the gaze of the supporters in red – looking up usually helps. However, with a roof over their heads, where can the head of Jeff Cunningham turn without being trapped into the confines of the fortress of BMO Field? Nowhere, that’s where.
A roof will make Cunningham – and Columbus’ – time at Toronto FC a more frightful one, and I believe our old friend Jack Skellington would be proud that our wish to scare the bajeezus out of Columbus is the greatest Christmas wish imaginable.
A goodwill gesture from new management (to the tune of several millions of dollars) to their loyal fans, Bell and Rogers, a Toronto FC Christmas miracle starts with a roof! Think about it this way – dear Saint Nick himself, infamous for his breaking and entering prowess, needs a roof at minimum to climb down a chimney. Otherwise, where could he park his Toronto FC-branded Kia sleigh?
A roof over BMO Field – the number one desired project at Toronto FC. Make it happen!
